Thailand''s Wongteanchai wins ITF title

Mumbai, Feb 26 (PTI) Thailand''s Varatchaya Wongteanchaiclinched the singles title in the USD 10,000 MSLTA-ITF Women''sTennis Tournament at the Maharashtra State Lawn TennisAssociation''s courts here today.

Seventh seed Wongteanchai, who had ousted third seedNicole Clerico of Italy in the quarter finals, rallied from aset down to get the better of fifth seed Vlada Ekshibarova ofUzebekistan 2-6 6-4 6-1 in the final.

The Thai, ranked 600 in the world, received USD 1,568(around Rs 72,000) and also picked up 12 ITF points forwinning the title, while her Uzbek rival, ranked 558, becamericher by USD 980 (Rs 45,000) and gathered 8 points.
