Earlier, Bopanna-Ebden duo defeated fifteenth seed American duo of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow in straight sets 7-6(10), 6-1 to reach the last 4. In the round of 16, they faced their toughest test as they beat the all-British duo of Julian Cash and Henry Patten 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(6).

In the earlier rounds, the Indo-Australian duo registered straight sets win over Kazakh-Russian duo of Roman Safiullin and AndreyGolubev in the second round followed by another straight sets win over Australian pair Aleksandar Vukic and Christopher O'Connell in the first round.

This will be Bopanna's second grand slam final appearance, and the first since he reached the doubles title clash in 2010 US Open alongside Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. This also makes him oldest male to reach a grand slam final in the Open Era at the age of 43 years and 6 months.

Meanwhile, Bopanna and Ebden's final opponents and third seeds Ram and Salisbury overcame second-seeded Croat-American pair Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 in the second semi-final, which also took place on Thursday (September 7).

Earlier, Ram-Salisbury duo defeated fifth seed Argentine pair Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals after they saw off American-German pair Mackenzie McDonald and Andreas Mies 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the round of 16.

In earlier rounds, the three-time grand slam champion pair Ram-Salisbury eased to straight sets win over Italian pair Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the first round before beating Japanese pair Ben McLachlan and Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round.
