US Open 2023 Men's Singles is down to the final four with Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz set to battle in the semi-finals on Friday (September 8).

In the first semi-final, second-seed and 23-time grand slam champion Djokovic of Serbia will take on rising American youngster Shelton, while top-seed and defending champion Alcaraz of Spain will meet third-seed Medevedev, in a rematch from the Wimbledon semis, in the second semi-final.

Djokovic, who has won the US Open title three times so far, eased past 9th seeded American Taylor Fritz 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to book his last four meeting with Shelton, who beat his compatriot Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(7), 6-2 in the quarter-final.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Djokovic, the player with most grand slam titles in men's competition, and the 20-year-old promising talent Shelton, who just turned pro last year.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, claimed a straight sets win over 12th seed Alexander Zverev of Germany by a score of 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to book his semi-final meeting with Medvedev, who defeated his compatriot and 8th seed Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last four.

Alcaraz vs Medvedev Head to Head

This will be the fourth meeting between Alcaraz and Medvedev. In the previous three meetings, Alcaraz has had the edge with two wins against Medvedev, who has won once in their battles on the ATP tour and grand slam tournaments.

While Medevedev defeated the Spaniard in the round of 64 of the Wimbledon 2021 by a score of 6-4, 6-1, 6-2, Alcaraz bounced back with straight sets win in the Indian Wells Masters 2023 final by a score of 6-3, 6-2 followed by a Wimbledon 2023 semi-final win by a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
