US Open: Bopanna-Qureshi lose to Bryan brothers

By Samyuktha
New York, Sep 11: The Indo-Pak doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, who have now been dubbed the 'Indo-Pak Express', fell to top seeded American Bryan brothers in the US Open finals on Friday, Sep 10.

Bob and Mike Bryan took down Bopanna and Qureshi 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) using their intuition and experience at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Even though the loss comes as a huge disassapointment to the tennis fans in the rival nations of India and Pakistan, the fact that Bopanna and Qureshi went down fighting against the ace pair has left many proud.

Bopanna and Qureshi, who were hailed in the international media as the harbingers of peace in the decades long Indo-Pak conflict, also found crowd support at the Flushing Meadows despite the fact that they were playing against home favorites.

"What these guys are doing bringing India and Pakistan together is very special. It shows that sport can bring people together," Mike Bryan said after the match.

For the Indo-Pak duo, who have been playing together since 2003, the US Open finals 2010 was their first Grand slam final.

Bob Bryan described the final battle as "the best match of my career."
