New York, Sep 5: The second seed and 16-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, defeated Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu to reach the fourth round of US Open 2010.
World number two Federer thrashed 109th-ranked Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 with the help of 13 aces and 31 winners. Federer didn't lose a service game in a 42 kph wind.
The five-time US Open champion Federer is seeking his sixth US Open title and seventh consecutive trip to the final.
"Tough conditions to play in, especially if you're down in the score. You could tell Mathieu was really struggling after being down. His serve, his returns, everything kind of falls into pieces," said Federer after the match.
