New Delhi, Aug 21: Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi along with Rohan Bopanna and Somdev Devvarman have signed a statement saying they will play in the upcoming Commonwealth Games, on Saturday, Aug 21.
The clarification came hours after the players shot off a letter to All India Tennis Association (AITA) saying they wouldn't be available for the CWG if their dues were not cleared in time.
Indian tennis players said they had been assured that all issues would be resolved before the Games.
But the players were upset that their letter to the tennis association, demanding payment of dues, was made public.
"The issue was meant to be a private matter between the players and the Federation and it deeply disturbs us that all our communication to the AITA was sent out to the media," said Leander Paes.
"We had no intention to create a media-frenzy environment; we just wanted to make sure we get what is due to us. We are hopeful that our genuine concerns will be addressed by our federation transparently without any delay. We will continue to be committed to play for our country," Paes added.
