Who Is Arnav Paparkar? India's Rising Tennis Talent To Reach Wimbledon Quarterfinals After Leander Paes
India's Arnav Paparkar has become an overnight tennis star by becoming the first Indian in 36-years to reach the boys' singles quarter-finals at the Wimbledon Juniors 2026.
The 18-year-old tennis player defeated Japan's Ryo Tabata 6-2, 6-1 in just 52 minutes in the pre-quarter-finals. Earlier, he shocked world No. 3 Keaton Hance of the United States with a 6-2, 6-3 win after beating Great Britain's Joshua Craze 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round. He has not dropped a set so far in the tournament.

Interestingly, only three Indians have reached the quarter-finals stage so far, the last being Leander Paes in 1990. Paparkar will now join that elite list.

His impressive run continued in 2026 as he rose to the No. 1 spot in the AITA Boys' Under-18 rankings, holding the position for 21 straight weeks. A third-round finish at the Roland Garros Junior Championships further boosted his progress, helping him climb into the world's top 20 junior rankings.
