Carlos Alcaraz wins maiden Grand Slam

Carlos Alcaraz, the World No. 1 tennis player won his maiden Grand Slam title by beating Novak Djokovic in the men's singles final. It was a five-set thriller between two best players at present but the 20-year-old Spaniard prevailed against Djokovic.

Marketa Vondrousova creates history

It was a fairy tale story for Czechia's Marketa Vondrousova who won the women's singles after entering the tournament as an unseeded player. The 24-year-old stunned Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the Final and created history as the first unseeded woman to win the Wimbledon.

Here is the complete list of winners from the Wimbledon 2023 tournament-

Men's Singles

Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) defeated Novak Djokovic (Serbia) 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

Women's Singles

Marketa Vondrousova (Czechia) defeated Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) 6-4, 6-4.

Men's Doubles

Wesley Koolhof (Netherlands)/Neal Skupski (Great Britain) defeated Marcel Granollers (Spain)/Horacio Zeballos (Argentina) 6-4, 6-4.

Women's Doubles

Hsieh Su-wei (Chinese Taipei)/Barbora Strycova (Czechia) defeated Storm Hunter (Australia)/Elise Mertens (Belgium) 7-5, 6-4.

Mixed Doubles

Mate Pavic (Croatia)/Lyudmyla Kichenok (Ukraine) defeated Joran Vilegen (Belgium)/Xu Yifan (China) 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.

Wimbledon 2023 Prize Money

Who won what amount of money? Well, players have won a decent amount of money by winning the tournament or playing in the final.

Carlos Alcaraz has won £2.35 million for his Wimbledon win, which is around Rs 25 crore if converted into Indian currency. Novak Djokovic, despite defeat in the final, has earned around Rs 12.5 crore for his performances. The prize money is the same for Women's singles as well.

The doubles winners have won £600k per team, which is around INR 6.5 crore, while the finalists bagged around INR 3 crore.

The prize money in the mixed doubles is a bit less as the team of Mate Pavic and Lyudmyla Kichenok took around INR 1.38 crore home, whereas the losing finalists won around INR 69 lakh.
