Wimbledon 2024: Novak Djokovic stops game, imitates penalty kick after England's Euro 2024 Win
Novak Djokovic won the hearts of the English fans present in the centre court of Wimbledon after his reaction following England's Euro 2024 quarterfinals victory.
England prevailed over the Switzerland challenge as the Three Lions won in penalties to advance to the semifinal of the continental competition. Bukayo Saka scored a goal after Switzerland's lead and it remained 1-1 after 120 minutes. In the penalties, Jordan Pickford saved Manuel Akanji's spot-kick as England won 5-3 in penalties.

The effect of the football triumph also reverberated across the Wimbledon court amid Novak Djokovic's match. The Serbian is up against Alexei Popyrin in the 3rd round match of the tournament.
As England's final penalty shot from Trent Alexander-Arnold went in, the crowd inside the court who were also keeping tabs on the football match erupted in joy. Soon the entire court was cheering and a different buzz was created. Djokovic paused for a moment and game halted as the crowd continued their celebration. The Serbian then also kicked the tennis ball imitating a football shot which further enhanced the decibel inside the court.
The tennis match is still ongoing as Djokovic is leading by 2-1 sets. Djokovic lost the first set 4-6, but has rallied back with consecutive 6-3, 6-4 wins.
Djokovic's own country Serbia also took part in the competition but got eliminated from the group stages. Incidentally, England met Serbia in the group stages and won the match 1-0 as Jude Bellingham scored the solitary goal.
