India's top tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden run in the Wimbledon 2024 ended in a second-round defeat to Germany's Hendrik Jebens and Constantin Frantzen on Saturday (July 6) night.
The Indo-Aussie duo of Bopanna-Ebden conceded defeat to German pair in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(7-4) in the men's doubles second round match that lasted for one hour and 18 minutes on Court 8 at the All England Club in London.

Bopanna and Ebden, who were aiming to lift a second grand slam title in the year, failed to control the match in the opening stage and gave their opponents Jebens and Frantzen a 4-1 lead without any struggle.
The reigning Australian Open champions pulled things back at 5-3 but failed to prevent their opponents from winning the first set 6-3. Bopanna-Ebden, however, showed more fight in the second set.
In the second set, both the pairs matched each other game-for-game and were inseparable at 6-6. In the tie-breaker, Jebens-Frantzen took a 5-3 lead and clinched a 7-4 victory to march their way into the third round of the tournament.
With Bopanna's exit, the Indian challenge in Wimbledon 2024 also ended as the others in action also made early exits earlier in the week in the men's singles and men's doubles categories.
In men's doubles, Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti also crashed out from the second round of the tournament after conceding defeat against German duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz 6-4, 4-6, 3-6.
The Indo-French duo sealed a win in the first set after a tight fight with the opponents. However, Bhambri-Olivetti failed to carry momentum in the next two sets to lose the contest.
N Sriram Balaji and Sumit Nagal also crashed out in the men's doubles first round. While Balaji lost alongside British partner Luke Johnson to fourth seeds Mate Pavic of Croatia and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador in straight sets 4-6, 5-7.
Nagal, who had lost in his first-ever Wimbledon singles match earlier in the tournament, suffered a straight sets 2-6, 2-6 loss alongside Serbian partner Dusan Lajovic. The Indo-Serb pair lost to Spanish duo Pedro Martinez and Jaume Munar.
Now, the Paris Olympics-bound trio of Nagal will prepare for the games in ATP events in the coming weeks, starting with singles competition in Brawo Open, which starts on Sunday (July 7) in Germany.
Bopanna and Balaji, who will team up for doubles competition in the upcoming Olympics 2024, are set to warm up for the event with a couple of ATP Tour events in Hamburg and Umag on clay.
