Wimbledon 2024: Rohit Sharma Among Centre Court Guests For Alcaraz vs Medvedev Semi-Final Clash

T20 World Cup-winning India captain Rohit Sharma was among the guests to witness centre court action in Wimbledon 2024 during the men's singles semi-final between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev on Friday (July 12).

Rohit had announced his retirement from T20Is moments after he led Team India to the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy for the second time, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 final in Barbados on June 29.

With 4231 runs in 159 T20I matches, Rohit bids aideu to the format as the highest run-scorer. He also owns the record for most hundreds (five) in T20 internationals. He has won two T20 World Cups: the first in 2007 while competing and the current one in 2024 as captain.

During his break from the game, the Indian captain was seen at the All England Club alongside brother-in-lan Kunal Sajdeh among the audience on centre court as Wimbledon announced the same via social media.

"Welcome to #Wimbledon, Rohit Sharma," the official X handle of Wimbledon while sharing the picture of the Team India skipper on Friday (July 12) during the men's singles semi-final action.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also was in attendance for the first semi-final on centre court. Karthik attended the match between Medvedev and Alcaraz with his wife Dipika Pallikal.

Earlier, the centre court was graced by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and England cricketers Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jos Buttler. On Friday (July 12), silver screen stars James Norton and Rami Malek.

As for the Wimbledon 2024 semi-final, the defending champion Alcaraz booked a rematch from last year with Novak Djokovic after defeating fifth seed Medvedev 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the first semi-final.

Seven-time champion Djokovic eased past Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4 to book his ninth final at the All England Club. The Wimbledon 2024 men's singles final will take place on Sunday (July 14).
