ONE Atomweight Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues Aims To Defend Title After Leg Injuries

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will defend her ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Title against Phetjeeja on June 19 in the main event of The Inner Circle 19, which will stream live on live.onefc.com. The Brazilian striker enters as a 28-year-old mother-champion with a 35-7 career record and a 5-1 ONE Championship slate.

Rodrigues remains unbeaten in the atomweight Muay Thai division. The bout was first set for March, but injuries to both fighters led to a postponement. She later explained that her own preparation was disrupted by inflammation in both legs, which stopped her from doing key Muay Thai training work.

Rodrigues on recovery and readiness

“I ended up having inflammation in both of my legs, which was preventing me from running, kicking, or doing anything that created impact. I had to take about a month and a half off, along with medication and physical therapy, to recover,” Rodrigues said. She said she is now fully healthy and better prepared than in her first camp.

“I was already feeling very good during the first training camp, but now I feel even better and more prepared. In my last two fights, I got good finishes, but I feel much more complete than her in Muay Thai, especially in the clinch game,” she stated. Rodrigues sees Phetjeeja as the toughest challenge she has faced in the division.

Title defence and division status

Rodrigues said a successful fifth title defence would be a major career milestone. She also pointed to the steady rise of new contenders in the division, while saying she views both herself and Phetjeeja as the best in the weight class.
