The 21-year-old wrestler, who hails from Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium, delivered a powerful performance in the men's 57kg category to secure his place on the podium.

Sehrawat, reflecting on his achievement, stated to official broadcaster JioCinema, "It was a difficult bout I had to fight hard there. I want to dedicate the bronze medal to my father and mother (who passed away by the time he was 11) and the entire country."

In the lead-up to the bout, Sehrawat had faced a setback in the semi-finals, where he was defeated by Japan's Rei Higuchi. Despite this, Sehrawat approached the bronze medal match with a calculated strategy.

"After losing to the Japanese wrestler in the semifinal, I wanted to ensure I don't go for all-out attack but pick points slowly and look to increase the gap at the end and I was able to do that!" This strategic approach paid off as he outpaced Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz with a decisive 13-5 victory.

Aman Sehrawat's win is not just a personal triumph but also a significant moment for Indian wrestling, adding to the legacy of wrestlers emerging from Chhatrasal Stadium, which has produced stars like Sushil Kumar and Bajrang Punia. His victory is a testament to his resilience and skill, as well as his ability to honour his family's memory and his country's pride through his sporting achievements.

As he stands on the Olympic podium, Sehrawat's emotional dedication to his parents and his methodical approach to the bout serve as powerful reminders of the dedication and hard work that define Olympic-level competition. His success is a celebration of his perseverance and a source of national pride for India.
