Aman Sehrawat Salary: How Much Will Paris Olympics Bronze Winner Earn After His Promotion in Railways Job?

By Rishab VM

Aman Sehrawat, the young Indian wrestler who made headlines with his bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics 2024, was rewarded with a significant promotion by the Northern Railways.

Following his historic achievement, Sehrawat was appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Railways. This promotion is not only a testament to his outstanding performance but also brings a notable increase in his salary.

Previously, the salary of a Ticket Collector (TC) in the Indian Railways could go up to INR 2.42 lakh annually. However, with his new role as OSD, Aman Sehrawat will receive a salary of INR 4.17 lakh per year. This increase reflects the Railways' recognition of his achievements and the glory he brought to the nation.

Sehrawat, at just 21 years old, became the youngest Indian to secure an Olympic medal, winning bronze in the 57kg freestyle wrestling category at the Paris Games. His victory was pivotal, contributing to India's sixth medal tally at the Olympics.

The promotion to OSD was a gesture of appreciation from the Northern Railways for his exceptional accomplishment and for carrying forward the legacy of the Chhatrasal Stadium, where he trained.

The Northern Railways honored Sehrawat's achievements in a meeting at the Northern Railway Headquarters. General Manager Shri Shobhan Chaudhuri and Shri Sujit Kumar Mishra, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, presented the promotion and a token of appreciation to the wrestler.

"On this occasion, Shri Sujit Kumar Mishra, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Northern Railway promoted Shri Aman Sehrawat for his Olympic medal win and appointed him as OSD/Sports," Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu S Upadhyay had earlier stated in a press release.

Aman Sehrawat's rise to prominence is particularly inspiring given his personal background. He faced immense challenges early in life, losing both of his parents at the age of 11.

Despite these hardships, Sehrawat's dedication and resilience led him to defeat Puerto Rican wrestler Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 in the bronze medal match at the Champ de Mars Arena in Paris. This victory not only made him the youngest Indian Olympic medallist but also set a new benchmark in Indian wrestling.

His achievement surpassed PV Sindhu's record for the youngest individual Olympic medallist from India, who was 21 years, 1 month, and 14 days old when she won silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

The promotion and salary increase are a fitting tribute to Sehrawat's dedication and success, highlighting the growing recognition and reward for athletes who bring international acclaim to their country.
