Is Vinesh Phogat Making A Comeback On The Wrestling Mat?

Vinesh Phogat, a former wrestler now a current politician, suggested a possible return to wrestling through a mysterious post on Instagram. On November 4, the Asian Games gold medalist expressed her ongoing struggles but affirmed that she still possesses the determination to chase her aspirations.

Phogat, who faced a significant controversy during the Paris Olympics due to a failed weigh-in, shared a brief four-line poem hinting at her comeback. She had previously announced her retirement after being disqualified from the final of the 50 kg category for exceeding the weight limit by a mere 100 grams.

"Granted, you're tired today. Granted, today you're a wounded bird. But you still have courage within you. You're still alive for the sake of your goal," The World Championships medalist wrote on his Instagram channel.

The Commonwealth Games medalist, who made history as the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic final, was just one match away from securing a groundbreaking gold medal following a series of impressive performances. However, on the morning of the final, she was disqualified after her weigh-in showed she was 100 grams over the weight limit.

Upon returning to India, Vinesh contested the Haryana Assembly elections as a Congress candidate and secured the Julana seat with a margin of 5,761 votes.

In the ring and in life, Vinesh Phogat has faced battles few could imagine, yet each time she has shown that resilience is her true strength. If her post is indeed a hint at a return, it's clear she still carries the spirit that brought her to the pinnacle of wrestling.
