ONE Samurai 1: Jonathan Haggerty vs Yuki Yoza, Wakamatsu vs Kholmirzaev Set for Tokyo Title Fights
Gold will be on the line three times when ONE Championship brings its inaugural ONE Samurai 1 event to Tokyo. The promotion announced two additional World Title fights joining the already-confirmed Rodtang versus Takeru main event on Wednesday, 29 April, at Ariake Arena in Japan.
British superstar Jonathan Haggerty will defend his ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Championship against Japanese kickboxer Yuki Yoza. Hometown hero and reigning ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Yuya Wakamatsu will put his belt on the line against dangerous Uzbek finisher Avazbek Kholmirzaev.

The 29-year-old Haggerty brings an impressive resume to Tokyo, having already captured both ONE Flyweight and Bantamweight Muay Thai World Titles before adding kickboxing gold to his collection. The Team Underground and Knowlesy Academy representative built the foundation for a career that has seen him compile a 9-3 promotional record.
Haggerty claimed the bantamweight kickboxing crown with a spectacular second-round knockout of then-divisional MMA ruler Fabricio Andrade in 2023. His most recent performance came in 2025 when he successfully defended against Chinese star Wei Rui.
Standing across from the Brit will be Yoza, a 28-year-old Japanese striker carrying a formidable 22-2 career record. The local favorite has looked sensational in ONE Championship, securing victories in all three promotional appearances while showcasing the crushing leg kicks that have become his trademark weapon.
The second title fight features Wakamatsu, the 31-year-old Japanese fighter riding the momentum of a five-fight winning streak. The flyweight king captured his crown in spectacular fashion last year, knocking out longtime champion Adriano Moraes in front of his home fans in Tokyo.
Wakamatsu's confidence soared even higher after successfully defending his belt in
Tokyo against reigning ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua Pacio. Now the Japanese hero looks to make it three straight Tokyo victories while defending against one of the division's most dangerous challengers.
Kholmirzaev represents a serious threat to Wakamatsu's reign. The 25-year-old Uzbek sensation brings a 9-1 ONE record built on explosive finishing ability, having stopped eight opponents during his current six-fight winning streak. The challenger's momentum and finishing rate make him perhaps the most dangerous contender Wakamatsu has faced.
