Since their marriage in 2018, the Vinesh-Somvir couple has resonated with fans through their inspiring journey, both in wrestling and in their personal lives. Their bond is deeply rooted in their shared passion for the sport.

The pair initially met while employed by the Indian Railways, where a strong friendship gradually evolved into a loving relationship. Their engagement, a public declaration of their love, occurred on Vinesh's 24th birthday, August 25, 2018.

Somvir proposed in a romantic gesture outside Indira Gandhi International Airport, moments after Vinesh returned with a gold medal from the Jakarta Asian Games. A few months later in December 2018, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri.

The wedding was attended by close family members, including her famous wrestling cousins, Geeta and Babita Phogat. Now, six years later the wrestling couple are set to welcome their first child.

Since her retirement from wrestling, Vinesh Phogat entered politics, joining the Indian National Congress (INC) party. The former wrestler then contested in the Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, in the Julana constituency, and won the poll, beating BJP's Yogesh Kumar by a 6000-margin.
