It's good news for Indian wrestling that Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Ravi Kumar Dahiya will be back on the wrestling mat soon. Earlier this year, Ravi made a comeback on the mat after a long knee injury at the Grand Prix De France in January 2024.
After that, he competed at the wrestling trials in Patiala, where he was defeated by Aman Sehrawat (14-13) in the 57 kg category. Now, Ravi Kumar Dahiya is looking to make a comeback again.

"I will be back soon. My surgery was done and I am on my way to recovery. You will see me on the mat very soon," the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist told exclusively to myKhel.
With Paris Olympics bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat now leading the 57 kg category, it will be intriguing to see whether Ravi chooses to return to 57 kg or decides to move up to the 65 kg category by bulking up. Interestingly, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia competes in the 65 Kg category.
"I will continue to wrestle in the 57 kg category at the moment and if needed, I might move to a heavy category like 65 kg but for now I am focussed on my return," the 26-year-old wrestler added.
While he knows the challenge that lies ahead of him, Ravi Dahiya harbours no ill emotion for his Chhatrasal-mate Aman, whose bronze medal success has intensified the fight for the top spot in the category. Ravi, in fact, revealed that Aman turned to him for a word of advice before heading to Paris.
"It is great, to be honest. We have won two back-to-back medals in the same category (57 Kg). This shows the depth we have in wrestling in our country. As my younger brother, he came to me before the Olympics. He was asking about the pressure of the occasion and how to deal with it as it was his first Olympics," Ravi said. "I gave a simple advice and it was to focus on his style of wrestling. We can't control what the other wrestlers do and hence we have to focus on our style and how we can do better."
To conclude, Ravi Kumar Dahiya's story is not just about a return; it's about resilience, mentorship, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. As he steps back onto the mat, the wrestling community will be watching closely -- just to see if he can reclaim his crown, but to witness the evolution of a fighter who has already inspired a generation.
Ravi's journey forward will undoubtedly add another chapter to India's wrestling legacy, reminding us all that the spirit of a champion is not just measured in medals but in the battles fought and the wisdom passed on.
