For the past several weeks, WWE Universe has been rooting for their favourite LA Knight to get inserted into a match at Summerslam 2023. It appears WWE has finally sketched an idea to give him one.

The more interesting part is that Knight will have to battle a fellow participant from that match on next week’s Smackdown to build momentums in his favor and he has an angry Celtic Warrior waiting for him.

Over on the latest episode of Smackdown, WWE Official Adam Pearce announced that a SummerSlam Battle Royal will go down at the upcoming event in early August. LA Knight was present in the backstage segment and he insisted on entering the melee.

Sheamus interrupted the segment and that led to Pearce booking Knight vs. Sheamus for next week’s SmackDown. Previously the stipulation suggested that the winner will only head onto the Battle Royal but now both the men are being advertised as participants.

With that Sheamus and LA Knight become the first two competitors for the first-ever Summerslam Battle Royal, this year. The full list of participants is yet to be announced and so is the prize for the winner.

The match to be presented by Slim Jim came out of nowhere on Smackdown which will also load up the card for Summerslam, even more. With that, the concept of keeping a minimum number of matches on the PLE has gone out of the window.

The popular belief is that WWE has set up the match just to showcase Knight and his abilities in front of a gigantic stadium audience. Interestingly, the brass superstar hasn’t won a match since last June until last night’s Smackdown.

Next week, he gets a shot at staying strong on the winning road as he gets to square off against a former WWE Champion. Speaking of this match, another match was also revealed for Smackdown, two weeks from now.

The speculated United States Championship Match for Summerslam has been removed from the PLE card and it appears that this match will go down on a regular episode of Smackdown, that’s on August 11.

Santos Escobar ended up winning the US Title Invitational, this week by overcoming the Legendary Rey Mysterio. Now, the LWO member gets his first solo championship shot on the main roster when he challenges the Champion Austin Theory.
