Ulaanbaatar Senior Men's Ranking Series: India End The Tournament With 7 Gold Medals Including 3 Gold Medals In Freestyle

Ulaanbaatar Senior Men's Ranking Series: India ended the Ulaanbaatar Open Senior Ranking Series with 17 medals across styles, including three men's freestyle golds on the final day. The haul secured a top-three team finish, with freestyle runners-up behind Russia and the Greco-Roman squad taking the overall team title.

Deepak dominated the 61kg final, beating Kazakhstan's Assyl Aitakyn 6-0. Heavyweight Dinesh edged Kazakhstan's Yedige Kassimbek 2-0 to claim the 125kg gold. In a close 74kg bout, Sagar Jaglan beat Russia's Tamir Eshinimaev 3-2 to complete India's freestyle gold sweep.

India wins 17 medals at Ulaanbaatar Open

India also added four freestyle bronze medals through Sumit (57kg), Kumar Mohit (65kg), Jaideep (74kg) and Vicky (97kg). With three gold and four bronze medals, the men's freestyle squad finished second in the team championship behind Russia, underlining the depth across weight categories.

Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Singh praised the group effort. "The phenomenal success of our freestyle squad in securing the runner-up position, coupled with our Greco-Roman team clinching the overall championship, is a historic milestone for Indian wrestling," he said from Ulaanbaatar.

Sanjay Singh said the results showed India's strength in Asia. "Winning 17 medals against world-class competition highlights the competitive depth of our athletes in the continental space," he added. The performance came against strong teams from Russia, Kazakhstan and other leading nations.

Earlier in the event, India's Greco-Roman wrestlers claimed two gold medals. Sunil won the 87kg title, while Nitesh took gold at 97kg. Sahil secured a bronze in the 60kg division. The Greco-Roman team topped the overall standings with 119 points.

The women's squad matched the men with seven medals. Manisha (57kg), Neha (59kg) and Kajal (76kg) won gold medals. Bronze medals went to Neelam (50kg), Hansika Lamba (55kg), Mansi (62kg) and Priya (76kg), rounding off India's strong all-round showing in Ulaanbaatar.
