New Delhi, Aug 14: After postponing the verdict multiple times, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal for a joint silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Notably, Vinesh failed the weight-in on the second day of her campaign ahead of her final bout.
After delaying the verdict three times, CAS finally came out with its decision on Wednesday, August 14. However, the full and detailed verdict will arrive on Friday, August 16. Interestingly, Vinesh can still appeal the decision.

The official document that is circulating on the internet states that "The Ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport renders the following decision - The application filed by Vinesh Phogat on 7 August 2024 is dismissed." Vinesh, a legend," an X user tweeted.
"So no medal for Vinesh Phogat. We're robbed," another tweet read.
"Vinesh Phogat's Silver Medal petition has been dismissed. Emotionally it may look like a hard decision but practically it's easier to go by the rules. There might be several others who missed out over the years. Will need a full revamp of rules. Tough but on expected lines," a user stated his opinion.
"Vinesh Phogat petition has been dismissed. No medal for India.she will return to India without any Medal. She is our champion with or without medal," a fan stated.

"This is unfair and heartbreaking I pray she continue this sport and not leave because of this More power to her," a fan tweeted against CAS' decision.
Notably, Vinesh Phogat suffered disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 after being found 100 grams overweight than the permissible weight limit.
On the first day of her bouts, she weighed 49.90 kg. However, with the final scheduled to take place on the second day, the weigh-in took place again on the next day morning. Surprisingly, on the second day, she was found 100 grams overweight.
It's worth noting that wrestlers get a 30-minute window for weigh-ins on the first day while it will be reduced to 15 minutes for the second day for the wrestlers who qualify for the final bout.
