Ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat etched her name in the history of Indian sports as she became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the finals at the Olympics.

Her outstanding performance in the Paris 2024 Olympics has secured her a medal, either gold or silver, marking a significant milestone for Indian wrestling.

Vinesh Phogat's path to the finals was nothing short of spectacular. The 29-year-old clinched her spot in the gold medal match with a commanding 5-0 victory over Cuba's Yusneylys Guzmán in the semifinals of the women's freestyle 50kg category.

She unfortunately lost in the quarterfinals in her debut Olympic appearance in Rio 2016 after suffering from a brutal knee injury. Even in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics lost in the quarters.

Now, in Paris 2024, she redeemed herself with a Round of 16 win over World No. 1 Susaki Yui, followed by a win over Oksana Livach in the quarterfinals before her triumphant semifinal bout against Guzmán.
