Born on August 31, 2004, in Bhagana village of Haryana's Hisar district, Antim is the second-youngest of five children in her family. Her parents are Ram Niwas Panghal and Krishna Kumari.
Antim's name, which means 'last' or 'final' in English, reflects her position as the youngest girl in her family, with three elder sisters-Sarita, Meenu, and Nisha-and a younger brother, Arpit. Sarita, a national-level kabaddi player, played a crucial role in introducing Antim to wrestling at a young age.
When Antim was just 10 years old, Sarita took her to a wrestling program at Mahavir Stadium in Hisar, sparking her passion for the sport. Initially, their father, Ram Niwas, was hesitant about Antim pursuing wrestling, but he eventually supported her after encouragement from her coach, Roshni Devi.
Antim's dedication to wrestling is evident in her early training regimen, which involved travelling 20 km daily to the Mahavir Stadium with her father and sister. Her family's commitment to her success is highlighted by her father's efforts to provide her with the necessary resources, including a specialized diet.
Antim's wrestling career is marked by numerous accolades and milestones. She won her first national championship in 2018 at the U-15 level and continued to excel by securing a bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling Championship in Japan the same year.
In 2020, she achieved a gold medal at the Junior Asian Championship and a silver at the U-23 Asian Championship. Her international success continued with a bronze medal at the 2021 World Cadets Championship and her historic gold medal at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships in 2022.
Antim further solidified her status by winning multiple gold medals at various championships, including the Asian U20 Championship and the World Junior Wrestling Championships.
In 2023, she won a silver medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships and a bronze medal at the Asian Games, further establishing her as a formidable competitor on the global stage.
Her recognition as the UWW Women's Rising Star of the Year in December 2023 underscores her potential and impact in the sport.
Antim earned a Paris 2024 Olympic quota for India in the women's 53kg with a bronze medal at the World Championships last year. While she lost to Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus in the semis, Antim defeated Sweden's Jonna Malmgren, a two-time European champion, to win the bronze at the event.
