Indian wrestling added another shining star to its constellation at the Paris 2024 Olympics as Aman Sehrawat clinched a well-deserved bronze medal in the men's 57kg freestyle event.
In a thrilling display of dominance, Sehrawat outclassed his opponent, Darian Toi Cruz from Puerto Rico, 13-5 to secure a podium finish. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to congratulate Aman Sehrawat on his monumental achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"More pride thanks to our wrestlers! Congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for winning the Bronze Medal in the Men's Freestyle 57 kg at the Paris Olympics. His dedication and perseverance are clearly evident. The entire nation celebrates this remarkable feat," the Prime Minister tweeted, capturing the nation's collective joy.
Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra took a moment to reflect on Sehrawat's journey to success. "Congratulations Aman! Your determination on the mat, your focus, and the way you carry yourself with humility and grace-these are the qualities that make a true champion," Bindra praised, underscoring the values that define Sehrawat's character both on and off the wrestling mat.
Fellow Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia took to social media to extend his congratulations, acknowledging Sehrawat's contribution to Indian wrestling's legacy.
"Well done Aman Sehrawat bhai! Indian wrestling has never returned empty-handed from the Olympics (since 2008),". With the win Aman joined an elusive list of wrestlers like Yogeshwar Dutt, Sushil Kumar, Bajran Punia and Ravi Dahiya.
Yogeshwar Dutt, another stalwart of Indian wrestling and a bronze medalist from London 2012, echoed similar sentiments. "You have maintained the supremacy of Indian wrestling by winning the bronze medal. Winning a medal in wrestling for the 5th consecutive Olympics is a proud moment for the country," Dutt expressed, emphasizing the historical context of Sehrawat's medal.
The accolades didn't stop there. Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh joined in, lauding Sehrawat for his outstanding performance at the Parisian Games.
The cricket fraternity also showered praise, with Gautam Gambhir commending Sehrawat's achievement at such a young age. "First Olympic medal at just 21! Superb performance #AmanSehrawat," Gambhir tweeted, reflecting on the promising future ahead for the young wrestler.
Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman added their voices to the chorus of congratulations, celebrating Sehrawat's accomplishment and predicting a bright future ahead for the budding wrestling star.
