Vinesh Phogat, one of the most celebrated wrestlers, wrote an open letter on Friday, August 16 after her Paris Olympics 2024 heartbreak. In her three-page open letter, she thanked various individuals who supported her throughout her career.
Phogat admitted that her sudden retirement came under unfortunate circumstances. She stressed on various aspects of her childhood, her parents, and how she excelled in wrestling before thanking her support staff members, who played an important role in her career.

Additionally, she also thanked the Paris Olympics 2024 Chef de Mission Gagan Narang and talked about the infamous wrestling protests against the former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh.
However, she missed out on mentioning an important person in her life Mahavir Phogat as questioned by Geeta Phogat's husband Pawan Kumar Saroha. Notably, Vinesh's uncle Mahavir trained and coached her.
Pawan took to X (Formerly Twitter) to state that she missed writing about Mahavir Phogat, who started her wrestling journey.
"Vinesh, aapne bahut hi badhiya likha hai, lekin shayad aaj aap apne tauji Mahavir Phogat ko bhool gaye hain. Jinhone aapki kushti zindagi ko shuru kiya tha. Bhagwan aapko shuddh buddhi de." Pawan wrote.
(Vinesh, you have written very well, but perhaps today you forgot your uncle Mahavir Phogat, who started your wrestling journey. May God grant you pure wisdom)
Subsequently, the officials had to officially disqualify her from the Paris Olympics 2024 and eventually, she was ranked below all other wrestlers without any ranking.
Vinesh Phogat tried out from intense exercises and sauna sessions to cardio workouts and practicing various wrestling moves to cut her weight.
Though she filed a plea at the CAS for a joint silver medal, her request was ultimately denied. IOA chief PT Usha expressed her shock to the CAS' response.
