AEW All Out 2023: Spoiler on WWE Legend coming out of retirement at PPV

Within three days, AEW will conduct the All Out 2023 pay-per-view, this weekend which has become a yearly tradition for the company. It appears that legendary Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat has been booked to compete at the show.

The old-school wrestler last competed in a match for a Big Time Wrestling show in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 27th, 2022 and it’s presumably safe to think that he’s still in good shape to wrestle one more match.

On that note, AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Ricky Starks will challenge Ricky Steamboat to a Strap match at All Out on this Saturday’s episode of Collision. There’s no update on whether Steamboat will be there on Collision.

Starks himself was suspended by AEW for attacking Steamboat, earlier this month on TV but his suspension will be over before All Out and he’s seemingly coming to make a name for himself at the expense of the veteran.

As mentioned above, Steamboat teamed up with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR in a six-man Tag Team match to defeat Jay Lethal, Brock Anderson, and Nick Aldis in an indie show after which Steamboat returned to his retirement life.

But then in an episode of AEW Collision earlier this month, Steamboat officiated a “Real” AEW World Championship match between CM Punk and Ricky Starks which ended with Punk retaining his belt.

After the match, Starks ended up attacking Steamboat and whipping the WWE Hall of Famer with his belt to start the storyline. Now, at All Out, the two are eventually set to compete in a matchup.

Originally, the reported plan for All Out was to let Punk defend his “Real” AEW World Championship in the main event of the show against Starks but plans possibly changed due to Punk getting suspended at All In for a backstage altercation with Jack Perry.

We have to wait until Collision to see if Steamboat indeed accepts Starks’ challenge to compete in a match despite his age being 70 or brings out someone to represent him against Starks. For now, the September 2 episode match card stands as follows:

– Billy Gunn & The Acclaimed (c) vs. Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker for the AEW World Trios Championship

– Jay White vs. AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood

– The Outcasts (AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya, Toni Storm & Ruby Soho) vs. Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida & TBS Women’s Champion Kris Statlander

– Ricky Starks calls out Ricky Steamboat
