AEW Continental Classic: Full Details Revealed For 2024 Tournament Edition

The Continental Classic tournament is returning in All Elite Wrestling with the 2024 edition to crown a Continental Champion in the company. It’ll see a stacked lineup of 12 top-tier wrestlers competing in an array of matches.

As announced on Sunday, the second-ever tournament for the AEW Continental Championship will kick off this Wednesday, November 27, on AEW Dynamite. It promises to deliver some mouth-watering bouts ahead of the final championship match next month.

AEW Continental Classic Full Details Revealed For 2024 Tournament Edition

In a Selection Special stream that aired last night, it was informed that the twelve selected wrestlers from the roster will be divided into two groups, the Blue League and the Gold League, each containing six names.

To produce perfect results in each match, everyone will be banned from ringside during the Continental Classic tournament. The top scorers from each block will meet in block finals, respectively on the December 22nd episode of AEW Collision and the December 25th episode of AEW Dynamite.

The winners from these two leagues will meet at Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28 in Orlando, Florida to determine the winner of the Continental Championship tournament and thereby the recipient of the title belt with the same name. The confirmed participants are:

Blue League

  • Current AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada
  • Kyle Fletcher
  • TNT Champion Daniel Garcia
  • The Beast Mortos
  • Mark Briscoe
  • Shelton Benjamin

Gold League

  • Will Ospreay
  • Juice Robinson
  • Brody King
  • Ricochet
  • AEW Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli
  • Darby Allin

The coming tourney will function in a round-robin format with two blocks, Gold Block and Blue Block, and a 20-minute time limit for each match. Wrestlers will earn points depending on the match outcomes (Win = 3 points; Draw = 1 point each; Loss = 0 points).

In 2023, Eddie Kingston became the inaugural Continental Classic Champion by defeating Bryan Danielson in the finals that took place at the first-ever AEW Worlds End PPV show. This win also unified the AEW Continental, ROH World, and New Japan Strong titles.
