Bengaluru, May 29: AEW Double or Nothing 2023 pay-per-view took place, last night at the T-Mobile Arena in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada where the two major Women's Championships in the promotion got new holders.
In the first title change of the night, Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter (c) to win the AEW Women's World Championship. The match was never a fair encounter since the former champion wasn't 100% going into it.

Over on last week's Dynamite, a tag team match featuring Hayter had to be scrapped as Hayter was dealing with a legit shoulder injury suffered weeks ago. This is the reason that Hayter had to be protected and her title defense was extremely short.
Before the match began at AEW Double or Nothing, The Outcasts members Saraya and Ruby Soho gave a beatdown to Hayter at the backstage area and then dragged her through the ramp into the ring.
A resilient champion agreed to still compete in the match after her own allies Dr. Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida got into the mix and neutralized The Outcasts members at ringside. However, Storm took advantage of Hayter's injured shoulder.
The finishing sequence saw Hayter tearing up the tapes on her shoulder as Toni send her face-first into the turnbuckles. She quickly connected with her Storm Zero finisher to secure the pin-fall win.
Toni Storm won the Interim AEW Women's Title from Thunder Rosa, last year at All Out. Then at AEW Full Gear PPV in November 2022, she dropped the AEW Women's Title to Jamie Hayter. Hence, Double or Nothing marked a sweet redemption for her.
In the second championship change at Double or Nothing, AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill finally lost the belt after holding on to it for one and a half years. With this, her one-of-a-kind winning streak on AEW programming also came to an end.
Cargill successfully retained the AEW TBS Championship against Taya Valkyrie in her originally scheduled match at Double or Nothing. With that win, her undefeated streak proceeded to 60-0. However, a new challenge was still waiting for her.
After the match, Mark Sterling noted that there is "nobody" left in the AEW locker room to challenge Cargill. At this point, Kris Statlander's music hit as she made her return to AEW programming.
Statlander ended up challenging Cargill into a title match and the challenge was accepted. Statlander took advantage of her exhausted opponent, and pinned her, easily to become the new AEW TBS Champion.
This victory at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 marked Statlander's maiden championship win since signing with All Elite Wrestling back in December 2019. She had been out of action since August 2022 due to a torn ACL and torn meniscus.
As for Cargill, she had held the TBS Title since the January 5, 2022, episode of AEW Dynamite. She was the first TBS Champion after defeating Ruby Soho in a tournament finale who enjoyed a 500+ day reign.
