AEW Double or Nothing 2024: Darby Allin enters Anarchy in the Arena match fray

The Anarchy in the Arena match will return at the annual Double or Nothing event set for later this month. The originally announced lineup for this match has slightly been tweaked as Eddie Kingston was replaced by Darby Allin.

On the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Eddie Kingston is out of Double or Nothing after suffering a leg injury at the NJPW Resurgence event, this past weekend. Footage from the exact moment of picking up the injury was also shown.

Kingston ruptured his leg on the barricade after digesting a suplex off the apron and through a table from Gable Kidd, who won the match to win the Strong Openweight Title. After the match, The Young Bucks and Jack Perry further attacked Kingston.

The Elite saw the footage and they were under the impression that FTR and Bryan Danielson would now fight them in a 3-on-4 situation, or would forfeit the match scheduled for Double or Nothing.

Then in the main event of the Dynamite May 15 episode, Kazuchika Okada defeated Dax Harwood to retain the AEW Continental Championship. Once that match was over, The Elite, Danielson, and Cash Wheeler started to brawl.

Allin then came out to neutralize the scene in favor of FTR and Danielson and officially declared himself as the new fourth member of FTR’s team. Later, Allin admitted that he wasn’t 100 percent and a superplex spot by Harwood may have injured him, further.

Allin has been out of action since AEW Dynamite Big Business edition in mid-March when he injured his leg in a match against Jay White. During this recovery period, he was hit by a bus.

Also on Dynamite, Malakai Black accepted Adam Copeland’s challenge for a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at Double or Nothing. He further added a stipulation which says that after he wins, Copeland will have to bend his knee to the House of Black.

The 2024 AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view takes place within two weeks from now on Sunday, May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The confirmed matches from the event are given below.

  • AEW World Heavyweight Championship: Swerve Strickland (c) defends against Christian Cage
