AEW Dynamite 2025: Mercedes Mone retains; New Champion crowned

One of the top wrestlers of All Elite Wrestling, Mercedes Mone issued an open challenge for her AEW TBS Championship during last night's Dynamite on TBA Network which marked the 250th edition of the show.

The challenge was answered by Nyla Rose to produce a slobberknocker of a contest but in the end, Mone emerged victorious as she was able to tap out "The Native Beast" with the Statement Maker submission.

Heading into the contest, Mone's open challenge specifically excluded Dr. Britt Baker from participating in it. Also, upon her arrival on Dynamite at Little Rock, Arkansas, AEW EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson barred Baker from the building.

During the match with Rose, Mone attempted to utilize Baker's finishing submission move but Rose bit her hands to get rid of the hold, leading Mone to transition into the Statement Maker and pick up the victory.

Despite the win, Mone was unable to end the night on a delightful note as someone wearing a sting mask attacked her after the title match and it expectedly appeared to be the former AEW Women's World Champion Britt Baker.

The two got into a brawl for some time before the security team arrived at the ring to separate the duo. Mone and Baker are building a beef with each passing episode of Dynamite and the assumption is they will meet in a match at AEW All In.

Apart from being the TBS Champion, Mone is also the NJPW STRONG Women's Champion as she defeated the newly become WWE Superstar Stephanie Vaquer for the title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, the night where Baker also returned to confront Mone.

Also at AEW Dynamite 250, MJF defeated Will Ospreay (c) in a 1-Hour Match to win the AEW International Championship. MJF hit Ospreay in the head with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to ensure the win just 1 second before the 60-minute time limit expired.

Ospreay almost had the match won if he would decide to use the Tiger Driver 91 finisher. But he stayed true to his promise not to use the move that caused a storyline injury to Bryan Danielson.

After the match, MJF was helped to the locker room by the AEW medical team. The current assumption is that MJF vs. Ospreay for the International Title will be announced in a rematch for AEW All In set for late August.
