AEW Dynamite: Big Championship Matches, Saraya & more announced

AEW generally plans way ahead of the upcoming Dynamite episodes and that trend continues with the announcement of a couple of matches for next week. The former AEW TNT Champion will finally get his rematch.

Two-time former TNT Champion Wardlow had been absent from AEW programming since losing the title to Powerhouse Hobbs on the March 8 edition of Dynamite, just three days after the 2023 AEW Revolution pay-per-view in San Francisco, California.

In his absence, Powerhouse Hobbs had captured the title and taunted him on multiple occasions alongside QT Marshall. On last night’s Dynamite, Wardlow finally returned to TV and attacked Hobbs’ customized car, sending him for a retreat.

As a consequence, AEW announced that Wardlow will get his TNT Title re-match against Hobbs on next week’s episode of Dynamite. This is not the only match announced for the show as the top heels from the women’s roster will be in action in a tag match.

The match lineup consists of Britt Baker and AEW Women's World Champion Jamie Hayter going up against Toni Storm and Ruby Soho of The Outcasts with the group leader standing at ringside.

This match was set up after Hayter and Baker had to run into the show to stop a beatdown after Storm and Soho team defeated Skye Blue and Riho in a tag team match, last night.

Baker has been sidelined from action due to an injury but she will be back in action in front of her hometown crowd. Her bitter rival, Saraya remains a regular fixture on TV but due to her previous fatal neck injury, she only wrestles in some selected matches.

The April 19 episode of AEW Dynamite takes place at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The current match card for the upcoming edition stands as follows,

- TNT Title Match: Powerhouse Hobbs (c) vs. Wardlow

- Ruby Soho & Toni Storm vs. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter

In more announcements from Dynamite, Aussie Open will defend the IWGP Tag Team Titles against Best Friends on this coming episode of Rampage. This big match is likely to serve as the main event of the night.

FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dash Harwood) will make an appearance as the new AEW Tag Team Champions. Daddy Magic & Big Ang will also appear in a possible promo segment. Plus, a new arrival in AEW, Taya Valkyrie will be seen in action in a solo match.

AEW Rampage will air at 9:30 EST, this Friday night, and the card for the taped show from the UW‑Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is given below,

- IWGP Tag Team Titles Match: Aussie Open (c) vs. Best Friends

- FTR will speak

- Taya Valkyrie vs. Emi Sakura

- Jeff Jarrett’s team will be in action

- Daddy Magic & Big Ang will have a segment

- Jungle Boy vs. Shawn Spears
