Within two weeks from now, All Elite Wrestling will host their annual stadium show outing in the form of AEW Dynamite’s Grand Slam episode where one of the headliner matches will feature the current world champion.
The AEW World Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson will go up against Nigel McGuinness at this year’s Grand Slam episode to renew one of the infamous rivalries in professional wrestling from the early 2000s.

In his first match since 2011, McGuiness came out of retirement at last month’s All In PPV sow to compete in a gauntlet and he will again enter the ring for AEW at Grand Slam, this time in a singles contest.
Danielson vs. McGuinness is a lineup to have produced ten singles matches in Ring of Honor from 2006 to 2009. At Grand Slam, they will meet just a day before the 15-year anniversary of their final singles meeting at ROH Glory by Honor.
Earlier on Dynamite, Jon Moxley mentioned that Danielson was too injured to defend his title against Darby Allin at Grand Slam. Hence, Allin was asked to put his guaranteed title shot on the line against Moxley to which Allin agreed to.
Allin earned the guaranteed world title match by winning the Royal Rampage battle royale in July. Moxley’s win over Allin would allow him to snatch that World Championship shot which makes sense as Mox has turned on the champion at All Out.
The 2024 AEW Dynamite Grand Slam episode occurs on Wednesday, September 25 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. At present two matches have been booked for the show and none of them are title bouts,
