Soon after his return on AEW Dynamite after several months, Kenny Omega faced an ambush from his former stablemates. Now, he will be appearing on the latest episode of AEW's flagship program to make a major announcement.
For the May 8 episode of Dynamite, AEW is heading back to the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and one of the hype-ups around the show is that Omega will make an "important announcement."

On the May 1 edition of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega finally made his return to TV in his hometown of Winnipeg to inform that he spent several days in the hospital due to Diverticulitis, and was just 24 hours away from dying.
This return came just a week after AEW President Tony Khan was attacked by The Elite, the EVPs of the company. Khan is currently unable to travel after that attack and since Omega has an EVP title, he can stand up to them.
The new version of The Elite confronted Omega and The Young Bucks then took out Omega with the EVP Trigger. FTR made the save and made The Elite retreat from the ring. Omega was stretchered out but The Elite again attacked Omega over it.
As seen on AEW television, Omega was "fired" from The Elite and was replaced by Kazuchika Okada in his position. "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry has also been added to the group but the storyline teases the renewal of the Okada vs. Omega rivalry in AEW.
Last week's AEW appearance marked Omega's first show-up on TV since being forced out of action in December 2023 due to diverticulitis. Reports suggest that he still needs to undergo surgery to fix the issue.
There's no update if the upcoming announcement has anything to do with this coming surgery. For the time being, the updated match card for the May 8 episode of AEW Dynamite stands as follows:
