AEW Grand Slam 2023 officially confirmed to return to Arthur Ashe Stadium

Bengaluru, June 29: AEW Grand Slam episode is confirmed to return, promising a loaded spree of events, this summer. Apart from their three weekly programming, two pay-per-views and this special Dynamite episode will be happening in the August/September juncture.

As noted on the latest episode of Dynamite, AEW Grand Slam 2023 edition was confirmed to happen on Wednesday, September 20 at the Arthur Ashe in Queens, New York City. This will be the third annual edition of the show.

Double taping will happen as part of the Grand Slam theme as a live episode of AEW Dynamite and a taping of AEW Rampage will be conducted on the September 20 night. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on July 22.

Heading into Dynamite, Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, broke the news regarding AEW Grand Slam and AEW's official announcement fell in line with that. With that, AEW will have a remarkable time span from late August with these three shows:

- August 27: All Out (Wembley Stadium, London, Englan)

- September 3: All In (United Center, Chicago, Illinois)

- September 20: Grand Slam (Arthur Ashe Stadium, NYC)

This year's Grand Slam will be the first instance since the inception of AEW's third weekly episode, Collision which airs on Saturday nights. It's unclear whether Collision and Ring of Honor will also be part of the announced TV taping in September.

The first-ever Grand Slam episode took place on September 22, 2021. In the opening headliner match of that night, Kenny Omega wrestled Bryan Danielson in a 30-minute Iron Man Match which ended in a time-limit draw.

Other top matches on the show included Malakai Black defeating Cody Rhodes while Dr. Britt Baker also retained her AEW Women's World Championship against Ruby Soho in the main event. That night also marked AEW's debut in a stadium.

Last year, Last year's Grand Slam episode was held on September 21, 2022. That night's main event featured Jon Moxley defeating Bryan Danielson in the finals of a tournament to become the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion.

In another major news from the show, pioneer former WWE Superstar Paige debuted in All Elite Wrestling under her real name of Saraya to change the course of the AEW Women's locker room.
