AEW Grand Slam 2024 and Wrestle Dynasty shows officially announced

One of the annual traditions of AEW programming is returning later this year when the flagship show Dynamite returns to the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York to host the 2024 edition of Grand Slam.

During last night's AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 PPV, it was officially announced that the AEW Dynamite Grand Slam episode will take place on Wednesday, September 25th from its stomping grounds alongside a two-hour Collision and a two-hour Rampage episode taping.

The presale has begun for fans in attendance at the UBS Arena on Long Island at Forbidden Door and it's open until this Tuesday at midnight. AEW's official website also lists another pre-sale starting on July 16th with a public on-sale date of July 18th.

With that, the fourth Grand Slam stadium show is set within three months. The first of this chronology was held in 2021 featuring a main event between Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson on a night where CM Punk also competed in his first TV match in 7 years.

The 2022 AEW Grand Slam featured Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley for the then-vacant AEW World title while last year, MJF main-evented by defending his World title against Samoa Joe, and Saraya defeated Toni Storm to retain the AEW Women's World Championship.

In addition to the Grand Slam confirmation, NJPW announced the Wrestle Dynasty show in association with AEW, CMLL, and Stardom. This appears to be NJPW's version of the Forbidden Door cross-brand show where talents from multiple promotions will perform.

During last night's Forbidden Door 2024 PPV, a promo aired for Wrestle Dynasty scheduled for Sunday, January 5th - just a day after their annual Wrestle Kingdom event at the Tokyo Dome where both events will go down.

Originally announced in February 2020, Wrestle Dynasty was supposed to be held as a supershow from the famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City as the company's first-ever independent event in the venue but the plan was scrapped amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
