AEW Grand Slam 2024: World Title Match challenger determined for Stadium Show

Shortly after the All In pay-per-view from Wembley Stadium in August, All Elite Wrestling will return to another iconic venue, Arthur Ashe Stadium for the annual Dynamite edition dubbed as AEW Grand Slam where the World Championship will be defended.

Darby Allin has been declared to be the challenger for this future AEW World Title match after he won the Royal Rampage battle royale on last night's taped AEW Rampage episode and earned a shot at the title at AEW Grand Slam 2024.

In the finishing sequence of the match, Allin last eliminated Claudio Castagnoli of the Blackpool Combat Club to win the Royal Rampage. This also marked the second consecutive Royal Rampage victory for Allin.

By winning the 2023 edition, he secured a TNT Title shot at last year's All Out pay-per-view. Brody King won the inaugural Royal Rampage in 2022 to receive a shot at the Interim AEW World Championship then held by Jon Moxley.

At present, the AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is set to defend his title against 2024 Owen Hart Foundation tournament winner Bryan Danielson at All In on August 25 in London, England at Wembley Stadium.

While nothing is confirmed Allin should be the next in line for the AEW World Title against the winner of that All In bout. Before his Rampage win, Allin also led Team AEW to victory against Team Elite, this past Wednesday at the AEW Blood & Guts Match.

After much speculation, the date and location of the AEW Dynamite and Collision Grand Slam editions were confirmed during last month's Forbidden Door PPV show as it returns to Queens, New York's Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 25.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced claiming the AEW Grand Slam might not be taking place at Arthur Ashe Stadium with Forbidden Door originally slated from that venue. Later the dual-branded AEW x NJPW PPV was moved to the UBS Arena.

Subsequently, AEW Grand Slam headed back to its stomping grounds and it will mark the fourth straight yearly edition of Dynamite. Apart from the live episode, a two-hour Collision and a two-hour Rampage tapings will also go down.
