AEW World Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson has been booked for his next title defense against former Blackpool Combat Club cohort and current blood rival Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.
This expected title match was officially announced following this Wednesday's Grand Slam edition of Dynamite after Moxley defeated Darby Allin and per the stipulation, he snatched the guaranteed title shot away from Allin.

The finish of the match saw Allin going for a superplex, but Marina Shafir jumped on the apron to create the distraction. This was enough for Moxley to counter-attack Allin with the Avalanche Death Rider for the victory.
Shortly after the match was over, Danielson ran out and choked out Moxley with a purple tie before Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir attacked Danielson. But, Private Party and Komander arrived at the ring to save Danielson.
The heel BCC members escaped through the crowd but Danielson grabbed the microphone and declared war against Moxley. The challenge for the title match in his home state of Washington was made for AEW WrestleDream.
Moxley, Castagnoli, and PAC turned on Danielson, earlier this month at the annual All Out PPV show following his successful title defense over Jack Perry. AEW Grand Slam also marked the first time since the champion appeared on TV.
Danielson and Moxley possess tons of history with each other in All Elite Wrestling and beyond. On AEW programming, they have wrestled against each other twice, at the 2022 Revolution and in the final of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions.
Moxley won both of them and in the latter one, he also won the then-vacant World title at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York where last night's Dynamite took place for the annual Grand Slam tradition.
As for AEW WrestleDream, the second edition of the PPV show takes place on Sunday, October 12, 2024, at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington and Moxley vs. Danielson is the first match to be confirmed for the show.
