Bash in Berlin 2024: World Title Match booked for WWE PLE in Germany

Later this month, WWE will introduce a brand new premium live event in their calendar in the form of Bash in Berlin which will be headlined by an interesting main event championship match as confirmed during this week's Raw.

To shake things up on the Monday Night Raw roster, Randy Orton appeared on the red brand and he was quickly granted a shot at the World Heavyweight Title, currently held by Gunther at Bash in Berlin.

The August 5 episode of Raw was kicked off with the returnee Ludwig Kaiser who introduced his cohort and the new World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther for a promo session about all his accomplishments in the WWE.

SmackDown's Randy Orton came out to confront him in a major surprise and pointed out that there's a reason why Gunther is the world champion and that's because he defeated Orton in the finale of King of the Ring tournament.

However, Orton's shoulders were not down during the final pin which the referee never noticed. Considering that the referee's decision was final, he wanted another shot at Gunther which was further approved by Triple H.

That being said, Orton challenged him for the world title at Bash in Berlin which was readily accepted. Gunther then pulled Orton close and warned him that nothing could catch him out of nowhere (pointing out at Orton's RKO finisher).

As mentioned above, Gunther secured a controversial win at King & Queen of the Ring PLE in May to earn a shot at the World Title at SummerSlam in which he defeated the former champion Damian Priest, this past Saturday to pick up the belt.

"I saw what everybody is talking about," Triple H reacted about Gunther's win at KOTR. "Didn't really even seem controversial to me, just seemed like Randy Orton's shoulder wasn't down. But I'm going to say this: the referee's decision is final."

In the end, Triple H took the right call and gave Orton a rematch with Gunther with the world title hanging in the balance at the WWE Bash in Berlin PLE set for Saturday, August 31 from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.
