Becky Lynch to be in an “extended leave” from WWE amid contract expiry

If the ongoing reports from insider sources are any indications then Becky Lynch has wrestled the final match of her current WWE contract on this week’s episode of Raw. Moving forward, we won’t be seeing her on TV for multiple months.

In the main event of the May 27 episode of Raw, Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch in a Steel Cage Match by escaping the cage to retain her Women’s World Championship, after interference came from Dominik Mysterio.

Once Raw went off the air, Lynch put up the following tweet to hint that she was going out of the WWE for a while. But the “to be continued” phrase emphasized that she will be back when the time is right.

As per previous reports from Fightful Select, the seven-time former women’s champion’s WWE contract is coming to an end on Saturday, June 1, and she hasn’t signed a new deal as of this writing which is leading to the current hiatus.

PWTorch reports that sources indicate Lynch has not renewed her WWE contract but unlike the rumours on the internet, she is not planning to join AEW anytime soon. Rather this summer, she will be taking a break from WWE.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed light on insight of Becky Lynch and her WWE status by saying that she will be on an extended leave. Her husband Seth Rollins will not be on the road, either due to injury reasons,

“She’s taking an extended leave, that’s what I was told. It’s not for a short period of time. It’s for a long period of time. If he’s [Seth Rollins] not on the road, it makes since for her not to be on the road.”

Xero News further added that Becky Lynch is expected to remain on hiatus for the rest of 2024, meaning that she will miss plenty of action from the WWE before returning on the Road to WrestleMania 41.
