Brock Lesnar to defend WWE Universal Championship in Chicago

Bengaluru, February 12: Brock Lesnar is a unique performer in the WWE where he gets to perform in a limited number of dates in the entire year. Despite that, he gets the biggest paycheck. The tradition has continued ever since he returned to the WWE in 2012. The company treats him as the biggest box-office attraction.

To sell out big PPVs, his name remains top of the card in the main event spotlight. His last appearance was at the Royal Rumble PPV where he defended the Universal Championship in a brutal triple threat match against Braun Strowman and Kane. He retained the title by pinning the latter one and went on a break as expected.

Being the part-time performer, it was expected that he might not compete until Wrestlemania 34. However, a recent announcement confirmed that the Conqueror will compete in an additional championship match prior to the biggest event of the year. It will take place in a house show.

The announcement came from the arena that host the show via their social media handle which also revealed the date and the opponent pitted against the reigning Universal Champion. On March 11th, a live event will be hosted in Chicago, Illinois where the beast incarnate will defend his title against one of the opponents from the bygone triple threat match, that is Kane.

The United Arena in the Windy City of the United States will witness this singles contest. This will be only the second battle between these two behemoths. Before this, they collided only in one match in Baltimore.

A vignette was released by the newly added venue to WWE program that suggested that 'free agent' John Cena will also perform on the night. Plus, the regular names from Raw, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will also be there. This will be a Raw-exclusive show which should be a better one considering Wrestlemania will be just days away.

It has to be noted that WWE is not hosting the show in the famous All-State Arena in Chicago, this time around. The reason they are debuting at the United Arena is due to an early booking. Check out the updates from SportsKeeda.com, here,

“Besides, the event marks 20 years since the WWE held a show at the United Center. The reason behind WWE not putting on the show at its usual venue—the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, is that the venue has been booked for a Monster Jam event for the entire week.”
