CM Punk provides timeline of his WWE return from current injury

CM Punk was supposed to be a significant part of Wrestlemania 40 given his marquee status in the WWE. If ongoing storylines were any indications then he should have been up against Seth Rollins for a World Heavyweight Title Match at the PLE.

However, that angle had to be dropped after Punk was diagnosed with an injury. WWE has announced that the former Straight Edge Leader is dealing with a torn triceps which won't be allowing him to be in action for several months.

Originally, CM Punk returned to WWE in-ring competition by participating in the Men's Royal Rumble 2024 matchup. But then a sudden Future Shock DDT delivered by Drew McIntyre resulted in a torn right triceps.

Despite suffering the injury, Punk displayed resiliency and ended up becoming the final two participants of the Rumble Match before ultimately being eliminated by the winner of the 2024 Rumble, Cody Rhodes.

During an interview with TNT Sports, Punk shed light on the injury situation, expressing his disappointment in missing WrestleMania 40 where he was keen on finishing his own story of headlining the PLE.

The former WWE Champion also provided a timeline on his return from the injury and provided a timeline of 6-8 months. It means that he will either return in time for SummerSlam 2024 or shortly after the summer PLE.

"So, once we fix up all the parts, the engine's still strong. We'll still be good to go. We're thinking maybe 6-8 months, but I'm not really in a rush to get back to compete. I'm in a rush to get healthy. I'm in a rush to get better."

On the post-Royal Rumble episode of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk addressed his injury and confirmed his absence from WrestleMania 40. While recounting the attack by McIntyre, he got further attacked by the Scottish Warrior to set up a future feud.

Staying away from WWE TV, Punk was in attendance at the recently bygone UFC 298 PPV event along with WWE power couple, Montez Ford and Bianca Belair. Interestingly, the MMA crowd heavily booed the former UFC competitor.
