Crown Jewel 2024: Update On WWE Changing Champion Vs. Champion Match Lineups For PLE

For the next premium live event in Saudi Arabia, Crown Jewel 2024, WWE has introduced a new concept to crown two absolute “best of the bests” from the men's and women’s divisions through champion vs. champion matches.

Triple H announced that at Crown Jewel 2024, the first-ever Crown Jewel Champions would be determined with the WWE Champion going up against the World Champion from both the men’s and women’s rosters.

The Men’s World Champions (WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight Champion) and the Women’s World Champions (WWE Women’s Champion vs. Women’s World Champion) will clash against each other for the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championships.

That being said, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes from SmackDown vs. World Heavyweight Champion Gunther from Raw, and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan from Raw vs. WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax from SmackDown are the confirmed lineups.

Fans still expect some kind of swerves in the lineups given how WWE likes to shake things up on short notice but reports from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio declined any such tweak in the already confirmed lineups.

The source noted that while WWE would be willing to make these changes in the lineups, Saudi Arabia has already released the official posters for Crown Jewel and they don’t have the intention of misleading the fans.

The official poster of Crown Jewel 2024 featured GUNTHER vs. Cody Rhodes, and the report affirms that there’s no possibility of alteration in it, “WWE, maybe (would swerve fans after releasing the poster). Saudi Arabia, zero percent chance.”

Last Monday night, the two men’s world champions had a brief confrontation on the ramp in the closing segments of Raw. This week, the angle will move forward when the two eventually meet in the ring in a face-off segment.

Even, the women’s world champion also had altercations on SmackDown with Liv Morgan costing Nia Jax her matchup against Naomi which only signals that WWE remains unmoved from the confirmed matches for Crown Jewel.

The 2024 Crown Jewel 2024 will take place Saturday, November 2 at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Apart from the two champion vs. champion matches, no further bout on the card of the WWE PLE is announced.
