Gunther Suspended Indefinitely by WWE Following Chaotic RAW Outburst

By MyKhel Staff

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has been indefinitely suspended following a dramatic and violent confrontation on the RAW episode that aired after WrestleMania 41.

The Austrian powerhouse, visibly enraged after his title loss, shocked fans and officials alike when he turned his fury toward commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee during the live broadcast from Las Vegas.

Gunther stormed ringside and began shouting at the commentary duo before tensions escalated into a full-blown physical assault. He initially targeted Michael Cole, locking him in a sleeper hold and choking him in front of a stunned audience. When McAfee rushed to assist his colleague, the situation worsened.

McAfee, attempting to break Gunther's grip, landed a punch on the former champion. Gunther responded by attacking McAfee and applying the same sleeper hold - this time for nearly two minutes - leaving McAfee gasping for air before WWE personnel intervened.

RAW General Manager Adam Pearce addressed the incident later, issuing an official statement on behalf of the company. "Good afternoon. By now, everybody has seen what happened on Monday between Gunther, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. First things first, Pat and Cole are okay. Pat is in Green Bay covering the NFL Draft and Cole's doing what he always does - preparing for Monday Night Raw in a Hall of Fame way," Pearce assured fans.

He continued with a strong rebuke of Gunther's conduct. "As for you, Gunther, your actions were reprehensible and disgusting. You will never again put your hands on a member of my announce team because there ain't no heat in beating up an announcer. You're frustrated because you lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso and I get that, but if you want to blame somebody, then park yourself in front of a mirror and ask the person staring back at you."

Pearce confirmed that disciplinary measures had been taken. "After conferring with the representatives of all three men, Gunther has been fined an undisclosed amount and suspended indefinitely. Pat and Cole will be on RAW this Monday live in Kansas City, 8 Eastern, 5 Pacific on Netflix. Thank you for your time."

Gunther had held the World Heavyweight Championship for an impressive 258 days before losing it at WrestleMania 41, with Jey Uso defeating him in a tag team match - notably using Gunther's own sleeper hold to seal the win.

In the aftermath of the shocking attack, wrestling reporter Cory Hayes revealed via Twitter that Gunther had actually asked for some time away from the ring, which reportedly influenced the storyline suspension. For now, the fierce Austrian competitor is expected to spend quality time with his wife and young son while the WWE Universe awaits word on his return.
