Bengaluru, December 7: WWE had earlier announced three title matches for the upcoming Smackdown exclusive Clash of Champions PPV, the last PPV event of the year.

The Smackdown tag team championship was also on the list along with the WWE championship and the Smackdown Women's championship matches.

Since Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable are the current number one contenders for the title held by The Usos, we expected to see a normal two on two championship match between the two teams.

However, it soon changed as The New Day were also added to the match make this a triple threat affair which left the contenders unhappy as they never got a fair title opportunity and after this week’s Smackdown, their frustrations levels are belived to have hit the peak.

The scheduled matchup was further altered with a brand new team being added to the mix. We witnessed the team of Rusev and Aiden English taking on against The New Day for the first-time ever on the past edition of Smackdown and these two have been involved in a feud for a while now.

To the shock of the WWE fans, the heel team picked up a big victory over the four-time tag team champions leading to their biggest opportunity, till date. Once Rusev pinned Kofi Kingston with a big super-kick to win the match, their team was officially included in the Clash of Champions title match.

So, it is going to be a fatal-4-way match featuring The Usos, The New Day, Benjamin-Gable and Rusev-Aiden English over the championship. Check out the confirmations on WWE.com,

“During a night where every title is on the line, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos will defend the gold in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE Clash of Champions on Sunday, Dec. 17, streaming live on WWE Network.

Who will leave Boston with the SmackDown Tag Team Titles? Find out on a night where every championship is on the line at WWE Clash of Champions, streaming live Sunday, Dec. 17, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network!”

The newly formed alliance has huge potential as a tag team on the blue brand. Under the 'Rusev Day’ gimmick, they are going pretty well earning a lot of reaction from the crowd. So, their good work was recognized by the creative team. The momentum is likely to be in their favor as well to set them up as a strong contender for the Smackdown tag team championship.
