WrestleMania 40 season is in full force and it will continue through this week's episode of SmackDown where TKO Group Holdings Board of Directors member Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will make an appearance to address a challenge.
That challenge was thrown by Cody Rhodes, the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble match winner who despite being booked in the main event of WrestleMania 40, wanted to have a singles showdown with The Great One.

That being said, the 'Mania main-eventer will essentially be a shadow for The Rock as he will be under the same roof with him for the next three episodes of Friday Night SmackDown.
WWE previously confirmed The Rock's appearance on the blue brand to sell out the shows while Rhodes took to X to announce that he will also be in town for those three episodes despite being a talent from the Raw roster.

All three men will heavily be a part of the WrestleMania 40 storyline alongside the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins as the latter gave his words to support Rhodes in this unfair battle against The Bloodline.
There's no update on whether Rollins will also be appearing on SmackDown to build up the rumoured tag team match featuring him and Rhodes against Roman and The Rock on the Night One edition of WrestleMania 40.
