Bengaluru, March 16: Jinder Mahal is the second superstar who brought pride to India in the pro-wrestling world after The Great Khali's run with the world heavyweight title a few years ago. Jinder followed Khali's footsteps and went on to win the WWE Championship last year. The fans were in total awe when he won the championship at Backlash.

It was definitely not a one-off run with the championship as his title reign surpasses 150-day mark which is the longest run in the history of Smackdown Live and the second one after CM Punk's reigns with the WWE Championship. During his reign he defeated big names like Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura to prove his dominance.

The reign came to an end before the Survivor Series PPV in 2017 where AJ Styles toppled him from his throne. The Indian fans were concerned of his future in the company. But, in a recent interview with Sam Roberts' Wrestling Podcast, the superstar, himself assured the fans that a future title run is reserved for him.

While talking to the host of the podcast, Jinder Mahal stated that Vince McMahon has promised him another run with the title. He also stated that the push he got after Wrestlemania 33 was not a forced one. Rather, he earned it just like every other superstar present in the company, (courtesy popculture.com)

"I wasn't worried at all. A lot of people say, 'It's disappointing you got the push.' No, I didn't get the push, I made the push. I believe that every WWE superstar is in charge 100 percent of his own destiny. It's up to me.

You know you drop the title, you win the title, but that's part of the storyline. That match I had with AJ [Styles], even though I lost the title, it's like I lost the match, I really did win. I had an awesome outing, awesome match, came back and got a big hug from Vince."

It is certain that there is no shame in the loss that Jinder Mahal suffered at the hands of AJ Styles while losing the title. It was a fantastic match in the main event of Smackdown Live that earned huge ratings. Currently, he has been dragged into the US Championship picture.

So, The Modern-day Maharaja was asked about his current status. As per his comments, he is not considering this as a demotion. Rather, it's a good option for him while being away from the title picture. Check out his reaction after he was asked if he is unhappy with his current status,

"No, it's not. It's the United States Championship. I'm still on SmackDown, on the live events I'm still in a main, main spot, and that's up to me to maintain that level. You know, maintain that level of performance, and that's 100 percent up to me. If you see me fall down the card, it's my own fault. If I'm staying at this level, it's because of the hard work that I'm doing and I ultimately will become WWE Champion again. I 100 percent believe that."
