Jinder Mahal to lose WWE Championship soon

Bengaluru, August 10: WWE wanted the fans from the India to be happy with Jinder Mahal's championship reign. Prior to this, only The Great Khali had held the world championship in the company as a representative of the subcontinent. So, the abrupt way that Jinder won the title was sure to garner attention.

The USA fans were shocked to see Jinder pulling off the shocker at the Backlash PPV in May. He defeated none other than Randy Orton to become the champion that was unbelievable for the pro-wrestling fans.

Even in the month of April, he used to be a jobber whereas the very next month he became the prime champion in the company. As expected, this move left the WWE Universe talking for a couple of months to follow. In that period, the company's plan to catch Indian audience had worked.

WWE recently acquired the quarterly profit and it does not look good. The reason behind keeping Jinder Mahal as the champion was for the sole purpose of taking over the Indian market to a larger extent. The reports suggest otherwise and indicate that the figures in the subcontinent have not improved.

This is the reason why the Dirty Sheets reported that the officials are considering Jinder's title reign has turned out to be a failure. Hence, it should not be extended. So, the days of seeing the Modern day Maharaja with the championship has already been numbered.

Basically, WWE tried to gain more subscribers for the WWE Network from India by putting Jinder Mahal in the big picture for three consecutive PPVs. But, no significant increment in the subscription was noticed. So, going forward, the company might stop putting more emphasis on the Indian market.

Jinder Mahal is scheduled to face Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE championship at Summerslam. We should not be surprised if he loses the title on that night. WWE has another option in the form of Baron Corbin who might decide to cash in on his Money in the Bank contract to end the Indian's title run.

The reigning champion's roots belong to India, but since he has not resided here for a long time, he did not have a strong connection with the Indian fan base. This is the reason why Great Khali was called back to take over the baton, but this move failed as well.
