John Cena announced his in-ring retirement plan during a surprise appearance in WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event (PLE) at the Scotia Bank Arena in Ontario, Toronto, Canada on Saturday (July 6) night.
Cena revealed that he plans to retire in 2025 when he appeared as a guest in a segment hosted by Canada's own WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Cena, who wore a shirt that promoted "The Last Time is Now" tour, thanked the fans for their years of support.

The 16-time world champion has said that the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas would be his last, bringing down curtains on a two-decade in-ring career.
Cena, who made his WWE debut in 2002, also added that he wants to be involved when Raw moves to Netflix in January. So, he will be part of the Road to Wrestlemania programme at the start of next year.
Cena then closed the segment by saying that if you're a fan or a WWE Superstar and you want some, come get some, because his last time is now as fans burst into Thank You Cena chants.
In the post-MITB press conference, John Cena went into details about his retirement plans, saying WrestleMania 41 won't be his last appearance as he plans to feature in parts in 2025 from January to December.
"Here's where we give you some of the deets of the farewell tour. It's not gonna end at WrestleMania [41]. WrestleMania will be my last WrestleMania. But hopefully, if everything goes according to plan, we're going straight through from January to December," Cena said at the press conference. (Quotes courtesy Fighful Select)
"We're gonna try to go a long list of dates. I think right now tentatively, it's hovering in the mid-30s to 40s, because I'm still gonna try to juggle a lot of stuff that's going on. That will be the end of my in-ring completion."
