Bengaluru, March 1: John Cena is set to get an opponent for Wrestlemania and according to reports he also gets his wish to face a legend as well.

After months of speculation that the 16-time world champion would face The Undertaker at the biggest event of sports entertainment on April 8 in New Orleans, Cena put an end to the rumours on Raw and said the match would not happen.

The Undertaker is believed to have retired from pro-wrestling after his WrestleMania 33 loss to Roman Reigns, where he left his trademark black leather cloak and hat in the centre of the ring.

But, since his appearance at the Raw 25 anniversary special in January which gave hints that he will not 'Rest in Peace', it further added to the speculations.

However, John Cena confirmed on Raw as told by the WWE officials that the match with Taker was impossible. With that Cena also announced his move to Smackdown.

WWE's free agent Cena showed up on Smackdown Live and defeated WWE champion AJ Styles to book his place in the Six Pack challenge match for the WWE title at the upcoming Fastlane pay-per-view.

Cena joins the likes of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in challenging AJ Styles for the title on March 11.

His quest to be involved in Wrestlemania was followed by his unsuccessful attempt to win the Elimination Chamber main event last Sunday, where Roman Reigns was victorious and booked his place in the WWE Universal title match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

A victory at Fastlane like Elimination Chamber is unlikely and it has also been reported, that Cena could still face a legend at WrestleMania 34, but not The Undertaker this time, instead it could be former WWE champion Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio stunned the WWE Universe when he appeared in January's Royal Rumble match and suggested afterwards a WWE comeback could be on the cards.

Sports Illustrated reporter Justin Barrasso claims that a backstage deal is being worked on to arrange a mouth-watering clash between Cena and Mysterio in New Orleans.

The last time the pair fought in a singles match was in 2011 on Raw, when Cena defeated Mysterio for the WWE championship.

Even if the deal for the Mysterio fight falls through, there have been talks of Cena facing Shinsuke Nakamura - the winner of the 2018 Royal Rumble.
