Bengaluru, August 29: Much to the delight of the WWE Universe, John Cena was announced to make his return on Smackdown for the September 1 episode to promote the upcoming Superstar Spectacle in India where he will serve as the main event attraction.
Initially touted for a singles contest, the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion will now team up with the current world champion from Raw, Seth Rollins to take on Imperium members Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser in a tag team match.

But that match won't end John Cena's 2023 stint with the WWE. Reports confirm that the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood had provided him with a break from his movie projects and he'll dedicate the recess time to pro-wrestling.
The former franchise player of the WWE is returning for a full-time TV schedule for the next two months. Starting from this Friday's SmackDown, he will continue to make appearances on the blue brand until October. His currently booked schedule is given below:

"Devastated by the news of the passing of Windham Rotunda. My heart goes out to the entire Rotunda family. Windham brought the best out of me in so many ways. I'm forever grateful for the moments we shared."
John Cena and Bray Wyatt got involved in a feud in 2014 to have their first-ever match at WrestleMania 30, which Cena won. Wyatt settled the score at Extreme Rules in a Steel Cage match but Cena ultimately defeated Wyatt in a Last Man Standing match at Payback.
